What is it?
The PE and Sport Premium is a government funding initiative designed to help primary schools improve the quality of PE and sport activities they offer.
Schools receive PE and Sport Premium funding based on the number of pupils in Years 1 to 6. For the academic year September 2018 to July 2019 schools with 16 or fewer eligible pupils receive £1,000 per pupil. Schools with 17 or more eligible pupils receive £16,000 and an additional payment of £10 per pupil.
For the academic year September 2017 to July 2018, St James' CofE Infant and Nursery School received £16,590 and St James' CofE Junior School received £19,000 of PE and Sports Premium funding.
For the current academic year September 2018 to July 2019, St James' CofE Infant and Nursery School will receive £16,590 and St James' CofE Junior School will receive £19,000 of PE and Sports Premium funding.
Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and Sport they offer.

For as long as the school receives the PE and Sports Premium funding all of the above actions and associated impact are sustainable. This will be achieved by a commitment to ongoing development and improvement in staff skills and confidence and through increasing opportunities for and engagement and participation in daily physical activity, bespoke provision, interventions, extra curricular activities and inter school competitions and events.
