Waterstones Trip

During the last week of the first term the children who won prizes during 'Let's Get Reading Week' got the chance to go with Miss Robinson and Miss Cowburn to Waterstones. They each had a £5 voucher to spend which they had won from either the Roald Dahl quiz, the Reading Raffle or the Dress up.

They were all treated like VIPs with drinks on arrival and after a talk on how the books are organised, each child was able to look around and buy a book of their choice.

‘Let’s Get Reading Week’

At St James' Junior school we have had a brilliant ‘Let’s Get Reading Week’.  Lots of different activities were organised: including a dressing up day as Roald Dahl characters!

We had Violet, Umpa Lumplas and Charlie from ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ to Willy Wonka himself!

The enormous crocodile arrived at school along with many other popular and inventive characters which Roald Dahl is so well-known for.

Our parents were invited to come and join their children in their classes to share reading a book together. Some classes role played Fantastic Mr Fox and there were some wonderful Boggis’, Bunces and Beans’!
