DDAT Learning Pack

Week 6

8.6.20

English

Autumn 2 English

English - Descriptive Writing and Discussion

Texts  - The Shadow Forest

We follow the Talk4Writing scheme. Over 3 weeks we imitate the structure of a text, innovate using our own ideas and use of learning to write our own independent piece.

Maths

This term we are focusing on multiplication and division and measurement (area and perimeter).

For any child self-isolating, they will need to take their power maths book home for home learning.

Theme

During Autumn 2 we are exploring Alchemy Island! This topic covers lots of our Science objectives as well as Geography (physical land features). Your child has a sheet of home learning activities to support their afternoon learning.

PE

This year we have 2 PE slots each week on:

  • Monday (all year groups)
  • Tuesday (5QM)
  • Wednesday (5W and 5C)
  •

Can you please make sure earrings are not worn on these days. Your child should have their 'Team St James' t-shirt, dark coloured shorts or leggings and dark coloured trainers.

Children will need to come in their PE kits on these days.

Homework

This year we are focusing on 3 areas for home learning; reading, spellings and times tables. We expect the children to read everyday and bring in their reading records signed. Times tables are set on Times Table Rock Stars which the children can access using their own usernames and passwords. Spellings are set each week and are practiced every day in school.

Due to the Coronavirus risk, we are in the process of making work packs for the children if a school closure happens. These packs will support their current and future learning.

Please find copies of the work linked below.
